Welcome to the 2026–2027 School Year at Joseph Lovett Elementary!

Dear Lovett Elementary Students, Families, and Community,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! As I step into my fifth year as your proud Principal, I am filled with gratitude, pride, and excitement for what lies ahead. Over the last four years, we have built a solid foundation of trust, academic growth, and strong community ties. This year, as we align with CPS’s district-wide vision to DREAM BIG, we are ready to elevate our work and push our scholars toward new horizons.

At Lovett, dreaming big is anchored in our four overarching pillars. We ensure every child is:

  • Engaged in rigorous, meaningful learning every single day.
  • Encouraged to take academic risks, express their ideas, and build confidence.
  • Enriched through deep academic discourse and comprehensive support.
  • Experienced in new opportunities that expose them to endless possibilities for their futures.

To bring these pillars to life, our academic spotlight this year is on Writing and Mathematical Discourse. We are empowering our scholars to move beyond simply finding the right answer, we want them to explain the why. Through structured talk and writing, students will justify their mathematical thinking, analyze complex problems, and articulate their thoughts clearly on paper.

Through this focus, we are raising a generation of:

  • Critical Thinkers who analyze, question, and solve complex problems.
  • Conversationalists who can defend their logic, communicate effectively, and respect diverse perspectives.
  • Collaborators who work alongside peers and community members to achieve shared success.

True achievement is a shared journey. This year, we are intentionally opening our doors wider to invite families and community members into our building. We want to foster deep, long-lasting relationships because we know that when school and home stand united, student outcomes thrive.

Whether you are a returning family or joining the Lovett community for the first time, know that your presence, partnership, and voice are essential to our school family.
