Local School Council LSC
JOSEPH LOVETT ELEMENTARY LOCAL SCHOOL COUNCIL
Our wonderful Joseph Lovett Local School Council is comprised of individuals who are committed to ensuring that Lovett students receive a world-class education! Our LSC members work tirelessly in a number of ways to service our students as well as our community, in addition to their governing duties.
MISSION
The mission of the Joseph Lovett Elementary Local School Council is a 12-member democratically-elected public body. The LSCs' primary powers are budgetary oversight, approval of a school’s plan for improvement and the selection, evaluation and renewal of a principal’s contract. Elementary school LSCs consist of six parents, two community members, two teachers, one non-teacher staff member and the principal. Our meetings are open to the public. LSCs are a form of school governance unique to Chicago Public Schools. Here’s a quick overview of what an LSC is and what it does.
