Welcome Back Lovett Longhorn Family!

I am excited to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year! I hope you had a wonderful summer. I also hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year. I am so delighted that you are part of our amazing learning community. I welcome and value your positive energy and dedication to excellence in education, and I look forward to working with you and your children. All signs point to another responsive and productive school year. Our skilled and devoted staff has been planning and preparing for our scholars. Our hardworking and conscientious custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning the facility, And our much-appreciated LSC, PAC, and BAC is gearing up to welcome families, provide volunteer opportunities, and offer other exciting events and programs. We are indeed a joyous and caring community with the common goals of nurturing responsible, creative students while promoting high-level learning.

New Staff
Each year brings positive change. This includes a few additions to our staff. We are delighted to welcome Ms. Rhodes for 7/8 STEM/Algebra, Ms. Narot for 3rd/4th grade scholars, Ms. Jones for our Visual Arts class and we now have added Ms. Sherr as our full time Social worker to support our students. Additionally, Ms. Camacho and Ms. Gonzalez have also returned to support students as we transition back to in person learning.

Facilities Update
If you drove past the school or utilized our outdoor playing spaces this summer, you may have noticed numerous maintenance and construction projects. First, we are nearing the end of our two year construction project. Our gymnasium and auditorium are all being remodeled and each building has received a fresh coat of paint to brighten the hallways. We also have a new playground for P-2 and 3-8 that is absolutely beautiful for our students to have more space to play. Our safety protocols are still in place to ensure that we are keeping all students and staff protected so masks are to be worn while inside the building unless students are eating and we are asking students to maintain proper social distance while inside as well.

Student Placement
A great deal of time, effort and thought has gone into the process of student placement for the 2021-2022 school year. Careful consideration was given to input from staff and families as well as student learning styles. Classrooms have been balanced academically and socially. Our class lists are structured to provide equitable class sizes at each grade level.  Moving students is difficult without causing imbalances and inequities. Thank you so much for being positive with your child and helping him or her understand that it is impossible to place all students with a preferred best friend or teacher. ALL of our staff works hard to make school a positive experience for ALL students. Lovett is excited to continue partnering with you in this work around enriching your child’s life. Thank you for understanding that it can take a few weeks for a child to acclimate to a new grade, peer group and teacher.

Thank you to all who are helping prepare for the new school year. Your commitment to ensuring that Lovett remains a celebrated and successful school is awe-inspiring. I eagerly look forward to greeting students and families again. It remains an honor and privilege to serve as your principal.  Please stop by and say hello. Together, I know we will make this school year one of growth and achievement for all children.

If you are in need of any assistance, please do not hesitate to call at 773.534.3130 or you can reach out to our email [email protected] with your child's name and someone will get back to you. Our teachers will be holding parent teacher orientation. I always say that one of the greatest characteristics of the Lovett learning community is the genuine care and compassion shared between staff, students, and parents. This year we are focused on the theme "We are One" as we are all partners in this work. Additionally, we are committed to making this year better than ever as we Reflect, Renew, and Reengage for SY22.  Our goal is to continue to build on her legacy of love to ensure that our IMPACT on the lives of our students is the reason everyone will continue to “Love it” at Lovett! I look forward to an amazing year! As always, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve you and I thank you for all you do!
